What a day last Wednesday! Only few meters away, Ben Feringa (Professor in Organic Chemistry at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen) was celebrating with his group the greatest recognition in his scientific career. Together with Jean-Pierre Sauvage and Sir J. Fraser Stoddart, he received the Nobel Prize 2016 in Chemistry “for the design and synthesis of molecular machines”.
Strongly related to the University of Groningen ever since its foundation, Syncom could not feel more excited about Feringa’s achievement. The festive atmosphere was floating around Syncom as a good number of our staff have received either their MScs or PhDs under Ben Feringa’s supervision.
“We would like to congratulate Ben for this fantastic award” said Ton Vries, CEO of Syncom, “We also would like to thank him for contributing to create an outstanding chemistry community here in Groningen and educating an excellent new generation of chemists”.
